Swanage itself is set in a broad curving bay with safe bathing (blue flag) from its sandy beaches. All water sports are catered for from a gentle boat trip to deep sea diving. The town offers ample choice of shops, cafes, restaurants, lively pubs, theatre and cinema. The area around Swanage and the Purbecks can be explored either by steam train, car or on foot.
