Wiltshire ...

Wiltshire is a county of ancient stone circles, spectacular views and is full of history and heritage. Few places in Europe can rival the ancient monuments and magical landscapes of this area.

Spreading from the Cotswolds and Swindon in the north to the cathedral city of Salisbury in the south, from near Bath in the west to Marlborough in the east, the county is dotted with bustling market towns and wonderful villages. However, Wiltshire boasts the unique Stonehenge, one of the wonders of the world, which is as old as Troy. The Neolithic stone circles at Avebury has an avenue of 200 paired stones leading from the south entrance to another ceremonial site, The Sanctuary, which consists of a series of concentric stone rings. High above Salisbury Plain is Old Sarum, the site of the ancient city of Salisbury.

The modern-day Salisbury has colourful markets and ancient streets to explore which hold an array of small shops selling a variety of collectibles. Swindon expanded rapidly in the 1840s with the coming of Brunel's Great Western Railway and the town is now a shopper's paradise. Shopaholics can revel in over 100 stores at the restored Victorian railway buildings, which house the Great Western Designer Outlet.

Warminster and nearby Longleat with it's acres or parkland, safari park and historic house has for many years now been one of the most popular visitor desinations in England whilst nearby Stourhead with it's beautiful gardens and stately home, a National Trust property is just one more of those wonderful places in Wiltshire you must not miss when you visit.

Throughout the county there are visitor attractions, wildlife parks, historic houses, spectacular gardens, museums and festivals.
