Saltash the Gateway to Cornwall ...

Known as the 'Gateway to Cornwall' Saltash is often overlooked by visitors as they travel to and from Cornwall.

Set beside the river Tamar which is spanned here by two bridges, the Brunel railway bridge and the Tamar road bridge.

Saltash is an oasis of calm just a short distance from the hurly burly of the city of Plymouth in Devon. You'll find a number of hotels and B & B 's in and around Saltash if you wish to stay but if your just passing by on your way into Cornwall a short diversion into the village is highly recommended with a dink and a bite to eat in one of the riverside pubs a perfect way to beak your journey.

Saltash is ideally placed, on this boundary of the two counties, to provide a central base from which to tour. Take in some of the delightful riverside walks which abound in this area or travel a short distance to Buckland Abbey or Morwelham Quay.
